Finished Mariner's Compass quilt. As I mentioned below, the compass itself is composed of 65 pieces. Took me three tries to get it right.

Same pattern, different fabrics. Even people who have seen them in person have trouble recognizing that it is the same pattern.

This quilt is made up entirely (except the white background) of leftover 3" squares from other projects. When I first started quilting I read in a magazine that if you only buy fabrics that you really like, you will always like your quilts. This quilt confirms that adage. Even after making almost an entire quilt top from scraps, I still have way too many scraps.

Dresdan Plate quilt, one of my favorite patterns. The plate is appliqued onto the background fabric. I usually make them a "quilt as you go" project. This one is very pretty, but the quilting could be better. Made from the scrap pile and white. When on sale, the white is very affordable and I usually keep a few yards on had for when I get the urge.

Heehee. The pillow was supposed to be the first block of the quilt, but I pieced it incorrectly which would have completely ruined the overall pattern. So I made a matching pillow rather than "unstitching."

The top quilt is an expanded Carpenter's Wheel. Piecing the outer ring without a pattern was trying and required help from my husband. He has a good eye for design placement, but even he was stumped for a day. The second picture is a utility type quilt top. Made from scraps and pieced in between major projects while I waited for some inspiration.

Sunshine and Shadows is the first picture and the official quilt top. Since I've been making so many quilt tops, I decided to use one that I wasn't thrilled with for the back. This is one of the easiest tops to piece, picking the fabric frequently takes longer than the actual piecing. The boxes in boxes is more difficult. I may try another one that will make me happy.
